A Day at the Beach in Belmar, New Jersey

Fourth of July, Twenty eighteen

This article provides a comprehensive guideline for heading out to the beach.

It was a beautiful scenic day, and I was fully ready for my friends’ trip to the beach. My family was delighted to bring some extra lifting items with us. I know that going to the beach requires lots of planning and executing because many omitted things beachgoers may forget, such as battery pack, sunscreen, a hat, or something that needs additional protection from severe sunburn. So then I told my friends not to forget items left behind in emergency or packed meals that sometimes get hungry.

Here are the essential items to bring to the beach:

  • Beach mat
    • Mat that you can put your beach stuff or to lay down
  • Bath towels
    • You will want to cool your body and to rinse off sand
  • Extra dry clothes and undergarments in plastic bags
    • Wear old clothes for the beach and change them afterward
    • Old clothes can be used to protect from sun’s harmful rays
  • Wide brimmed, sunglasses, and visor hat’s
    • Wide brimmed for walking on the beach
    • Visor hat for playing with the water
    • Sunglasses blocks most of the harmful UV rays to your eyes
  • Cooler to store food, drinks, snacks
    • You don’t want to survive the beach without food and water
    • Ocean water isn’t safe to drink because of the microorganisms, algae, and bacteria from the ocean
  • Aqua or flip flips shoes in case sand gets hot
    • These can prevent your feet from getting too hot or hurt from broken shells
  • Sunscreen and sun protection
    • Be sure to get sunscreen/sun protection with a Broad Spectrum SPF of 30 or higher
    • Apply every part of the body, including your face, back, arms, legs, even behind your ears
  • Phone and phone battery pack
    • You don’t want to go to the beach, getting lost with no battery in case of emergency
  • Emergency kit (First Aid kit)
    • For girls, feminine products
    • You don’t have to worry about omitted items in case of emergency e.g. personal emergency, cuts, scars, skin rash, etc.
  • Busy items
    • Notebooks, games, phone, book, etc.
  • Keys and wallets with some cash
    • Just in case a beach officer will ask you for an ID for the security purposes
    • Do not bring lump-sum of cash (thieves can steal your money (Morel, 2013))

I-Powers Tips and Tricks:

  • Bring a sleeved shirt and an old leggings and wear them when you are on the beach
    • This can prevent excess burn inside the skin.
  • Reapply sunscreen every hour or 90 minutes, especially when sun rays are strong or after you get off from the ocean.
  • If possible, stay inside the shade if you can.
  • Do not leave your personal items unattended and never arrive at the beach solo. Have your family or friend to watch your personal items with you. Beach thieves are very common (Morel, 2013).
  • Worried about back pain when sitting comfortably? Bring a beach chair. It doesn’t have to be expensive.
  • Stay hydrated, especially during the daylight hours. Drink plenty of water.
