Why Probationary Period is Necessary?

Wow! The probationary period is a hot topic for all novelty employees that need to complete the 1st year of work or require hours of work to consider a status for benefits, including vacation benefits. It is a compulsory, folks.

You are not alone. Everyone, including travel addicts, has gotten through the probationary period at work. You will get through it, I promise.

Yep, these include United Airlines friends and fans, travelers, frequent flyer members, including me. Even some of my friends have an 18-month probationary period at the jobs she landed recently.

Getting a part-time internship at the high-end companies have not been so more comfortable since the pandemic is not over yet. The job market has crumbled, and some workers have permanently lost their jobs at the start of the pandemic. It was tough to get a job, making a probationary even longer than anticipated. It was challenging to survive their situations.

It was tough and challenging since my solo Singapore Trip is currently put on hold until 2022 if situations did not improve in the USA by August.

The job I landed as a receptionist is put on hold until the pandemic is over. It was a fantastic peer interview experience I learned last fall, and it was apparent. But they have told me that there will be a 48-week probationary period at a full-time job.

I want to travel abroad solo, with a group of ladies, etc. But I am needed to wait until my probationary period is over and will perform well.

Since I want to travel this year, I am postponing my sole Singaporean trip to 2022 because the USA’s cases are out of control (nearly 3.8 million), up to almost 70,000 new cases a day. There are over 13 million cases worldwide. Since the numbers are scary, I am not traveling abroad, not even domestically, with a mandatory quarantine or a lockdown of vacation places I endorse. Instead of travel I loved, I am focusing on getting a job, living my dream, blogging, and doing arts and crafts.

I better start with an internship that glows my valuable skills needed to perform well on the job well before taking off from vacation. I waited until a vaccine to be available to the public.

This blog will explain the importance of the Probationary Period and how it benefits us.

The Benefits of “Probationary Period”

Also known as “Introductory Period” or “Training Period,” the period is when a new employee train, learn, perform, and elevate necessary skills to become an effective and efficient employee. Here are the reasons why the Probationary Period works:

  • Save more money in the long run
  • Get used to job performance such as performing the job and expectations
  • Deciding if an employee is fit for the job duties
  • Learn how to follow directions and instructions while working
  • Cut costs of hiring more random candidates
  • Met new employees and workers, especially co-workers who will be “friends”
  • Learn how to overcome changes in schedules, situations, circumstances, etc.
  • Get along with new people, which will be a new “social communication”
  • Finally, you will have a fun, enjoyable job you learn and develop.

For me, my probationary period means;

Work, earn, and save money so I can travel abroad.

I believe that the probationary period works because spending a week vacation is a lot of money to spent, flights, hotels, rentals, activities, etc. Some companies require new employees to spend more or less time in the probationary period before going on a vacation.

What can I expect if I want to go on a vacation when I start a job during this period?

It sounded like a weird situation when you dreamed about traveling when you suppose to perform a job doing the period. Usually, you will need to wait until you complete a specific period of the probationary period. You sometimes accumulate vacation time but not using it until you complete your 1st year of work. I know that, but job, money, financial obligation, and your future are the most important for you to get a job.

Right!

My advice is that if you work a standard 5 days a week, you can travel to nearby places to spend a fun-filled weekend vacation. Remember that you don’t have to travel far to have confidence. Yes, you can do a weekend or a day trip while on a probationary period. Be sure to let your manager, human resources, and supervisor know your vacation plan.

Note: Probationary or Introductory Period is a good start for all new employees.
